This study investigates the interpretive method called "Al-Fanqala" employed by Imām Muḥammad Ṭahīr ibn Ashūr in his exegesis, Al-Tahrīr wa al-Tanwīr. "Al-Fanqala," derived from the phrase "If you say ... I say," is frequently used by Ibn Ashur in interpreting Surah Al-Baqarah. The primary aim of this method is to engage readers by posing hypothetical questions and providing their answers, thereby enhancing understanding and participation in the interpretive process. This research collects and analyzes thirty-five instances of such questions in Surah Al-Baqarah to assess their scholarly value. The study highlights Ibn Ashur's precision in raising issues and delivering well-reasoned responses. Additionally, the study examines the originality and purpose of using Al-Fanqala in Quranic sciences and explores its application in other works of exegesis.
